Creating backup data with the Memory Stick Backup application
1 Insert a “Memory Stick(TM)” media into the “Memory Stick” slot.

Tap Home .

Rotate the Jog Dial(TM) navigator to select MS Backup and press the Jog Dial(TM) navigator . Or tap the MS Backup icon on the CLIE Launcher screen.
The Memory Stick Backup application starts up and the backup list appears.

Tap (Backup).
The Backup All Files dialog box appears.

Tap OK.
The Backup Progress screen appears, and general backup information (its date, size, and number of contents) appears in the list.
Notes
Do not make any changes to the directory tree on the Memory Stick after performing a backup. If you do, you will not be able to restore the backup data to your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
When making a backup on “Memory Stick(TM)” media from your CLIÉ(TM) handheld, be sure to have more free space on the “Memory Stick(TM)” media than the data to be backed up.
You cannot back up or restore data if the battery level is low on your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
Do not operate other applications such as background play feature of the Audio Player application, while backing up or restoring the data to your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
Do not perform a backup when available memory of your CLIÉ(TM) handheld is low. If you do, you will not be able to restore the backup data to your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
Tips
In most cases, the backup process finishes within several minutes.
In step 4, you can also select an existing file from the backup list, then tap Backup to overwrite it.
Size column indicates the size of the backed up applications or data while stored on the CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
DB column indicates the number of the backed up applications or data on the “Memory Stick(TM)” media.
You may not be able to back up or restore the data properly when you edit the data directly using applications such as CLIE Files.
You can delete a backed up file stored on a “Memory Stick(TM)” media. Select the file that you want to delete from the list, and tap Delete. Files can be deleted from the CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
Restoring backup data and applications to your CLIÉ(TM) handheld
Notes
When you restore the backed up data and applications to your CLIÉ(TM) handheld, the data currently saved on your CLIÉ(TM) handheld will be overwritten with the backed up data. Any addition or correction made on the data after the backup will be overwritten and lost.
You can only restore data to the CLIÉ(TM) handheld from which you have backed up.

Perform a hard reset on your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.
For details on how to perform a hard reset, refer to the Handbook supplied with your CLIÉ(TM) handheld.

Insert the “Memory Stick(TM)” media to which you have backed up the files into the “Memory Stick” slot.

Rotate the Jog Dial(TM) navigator to select MS Backup and press the Jog Dial(TM) navigator . Or tap the MS Backup icon on the CLIE Launcher screen.
The Memory Stick Backup application starts up and the backup list appears.

Tap the backup data you want to restore from the list.

Tap (Restore)
The Restore All Files dialog box appears.

Tap OK.
The Confirm Restore dialog box appears.

Tap OK.
The Restore Progress screen appears. If there was any initial data automatically created by the softwares or any data edited or created after performing a hard reset on your CLIÉ(TM) handheld, Overwrite Confirm dialog box appears. Select Yes or Yes to All to overwrite all files. Select No to leave the data.
After the backup data is restored, the CLIÉ(TM) handheld automatically shuts itself down and restarts.
