The Image Converter software is a software for your computer.
Image Converter functions
You can convert still images and movie images to the format compatible for your CLIÉ™ handheld. The converted image files are transferred to a “Memory Stick™ ” media.
You can transfer the image to a “Memory Stick™ ” media by right clicking the image displayed on the Internet Explorer or Windows® Explorer. From the displayed pop-up menu, select Image Converter, then click Convert to CLIE.
You can transfer the image copied on the clipboard to a “Memory Stick™ ” media.
Compatible file formats
You can convert image files recorded in the following formats to the formats compatible to your CLIÉ™ handheld. To view the converted still image files on your CLIÉ™ handheld, use the CLIE Viewer application. To play the converted movie image files on your CLIÉ™ handheld, use the Movie Player or CLIE Viewer application.
 
Still images:
Bitmap format (.BMP)
JPEG format (.JPG)
TIFF format (.TIF, .TIFF)
GIF format (.GIF)
PNG format (.PNG)
PGP format (.PRC)
Notes
You can also use image files in JPEG (DCF) format, which is one type of JPEG format. DCF (Design rule for Camera Files System) format is an industry standard format for storing image files established by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association).
You cannot use TIFF-format still image files less than 8 bit in size, or compressed.
A large size of image may take a longer time to be converted.
 
Movie images:
MPEG1 format (.MPG, .MPEG)
AVI format (.AVI)
Quick Time format (.MOV, .QT)
Notes
You may not be able to convert AVI-format movie files not supported by Video for Windows
A new file will be created every 2 hours if the original movie image is over 2 hours.
 
On data format after conversion:
Still images: JPEG (DCF)-format image files
Movie images: Movie Player-format files*1

The playback of Movie Player-format movie files are only assured for the Movie Player application on your CLIÉ™ handheld.
 
On Movie images
When you convert movie images using the Image Converter software, you can store the data for following length of time on a “Memory Stick™ ” media (not supplied).
High Plus Quality: approximately 18 minutes on a “Memory Stick™ ” media (128 MB)
High Quality: approximately 30 minutes on a “Memory Stick™ ” media (128 MB)
Standard: approximately 60 minutes on a “Memory Stick™ ” media (128 MB)
Long mode: approximately 130 minutes on a “Memory Stick™ ” media (128 MB)
Note
Movie images converted in “High Plus Quality” can be played back only on the PEG-UX50/UX40 (as of July 2003).
Note
You need to install the Image Converter software to your computer using the supplied Installation CD-ROM.

Insert the Installation CD-ROM into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.
The installation launcher window appears.
If the installation launcher window does not appear, click the CD-ROM drive icon on the Windows® Explorer, and then double-click Setup.exe.

Click CLIÉ Image from the categories displayed on the left side of the window.

Click the Install button for the Image Converter software.
The software installation starts.
Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation.

Click Finish.
The installation is complete.
Refer to the Help files of the Image Converter software for operating instructions
To view the Help, click Start, select Programs (All Programs in Windows® XP), Image Converter, and then click Image Converter to start the Image Converter software. Then, click Help and select Contents on the Image Converter window.
