Setting the Movie Recorder preferences
Before recording a movie, you need to select Preference settings such as type of effect that you want to use on the recorded movie and recording mode.
The setting remains until you change.

On the CLIE Launcher screen, rotate the Jog Dial navigator to select Movie Rec and press the Jog Dial navigator.
Or, tap the Movie Rec icon on the CLIE Launcher screen.
The Movie Recorder application starts.


Tip
You can set the Movie Recorder application to start by pressing the CAPTURE button on your CLIÉ handheld. For details, see “Movie Recorder menu items.”

Tap (Preference).
The Preference screen appears.

Adjust the movie recorder preference as necessary.
Bit rate: Tap the arrow and select the recording mode. You can record continuously for maximum 60 minutes in one recording.
- V:192/A:32 kbps : Movie size 160x112/Video 192 kbps/Audio 32 kbps/Recordable for approx. 70 minutes on a “Memory Stick” media (128MB)
- V:96/A:32 kbps : Movie size 160x112/Video 96 kbps/Audio 32 kbps/Recordable for approx. 2 hours on a “Memory Stick” media (128MB)
Time Limit Rec: Select the maximum recording time when the REC button was not tapped to stop recording.
File Number:
- Series: Numbers the files in recorded order even when you insert a different “Memory Stick” media to store to.
- Reset: Numbers a new file after the existing movie image file, if there was any already stored on the “Memory Stick” media that you are saving to.
Capture Sound Vol: Tap the arrow and select from High, Medium, and Low.
Brightness*:Select a brightness setting from -2 to +2.
White Balance*: Choose a white balance setting based on the lighting conditions. Select from Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, and Incandescent.
- Auto: Automatically adjusts the white balance.
- Daylight: Select when recording movies outdoor under the sun.
- Cloudy: Select when recording movies outdoor under a cloudy sky.
- Fluorescent: Select when recording movies under fluorescent light.
- Incandescent: Select when recording movies under incandescent light.
Effect*: Changes the color and the contrast. Select from Off, B&W (monotone), and Sepia (sepia tone).
- Off: The effect is not selected.
- B&W: Select to record movie in black and white.
- Sepia: Select to record movie colored like an old photograph.
* You can confirm the settings with the preview screen in the Preference screen.

Tap OK.
To cancel the operation, tap Cancel.
Tip
It is better to keep the file size small when attaching files to e-mail messages. To keep the file size small, select V:96/A:32 kbps for Bit rate and limit the recording time.
On battery life during recording
With a fully charged battery, your CLIÉ handheld can record movie images continuously for approximately the following length of time.
With HOLD switch in protect position:  Approximately 1.0 hour
With HOLD switch not in protect position:  Approximately 1.0 hour
