Transferring movie files from your computer | |
Using the Movie Player application, you can play movie files recorded and transferred from your computer. You can also play TV programs on your CLIÉ™ handheld by transferring programs recorded on the Sony VAIO® computers with the Giga Pocket software installed.
Follow the steps below to transfer movie files from your computer.
Transferring movie files
You can convert and transfer movie files stored on your computer to your CLIÉ™ handheld using the
Image Converter software.

Connect your CLIÉ™ handheld (where a Memory Stick™ media is inserted) to your computer using the USB cable.

Tap Applications tab, and tap the Data Import application icon from the Applications screen.

Tap Connect.

On your computer, double-click the Image Converter icon.
The Image Converter software starts.

Click Add to List and select the movie file that you want to transfer to your CLIÉ™ handheld.
Or, drag and drop the movie file on the Image Converter screen.
You can also drag and drop the movie file on the Image Converter icon on your computer desktop. Skip to step 7 in this case.

Select the movie file and click Output to Memory Stick.
The Memory Stick dialog box appears.
If you want to change the movie file setting such as image quality, click Settings and make changes as necessary.

Click the arrow next to Saving Drive and select the Memory Stick drive, then click OK.
The selected movie file is transferred to a Memory Stick™ media in your CLIÉ™ handheld.

To use sample movie files
When you install Image Converter on your computer, a shortcut icon for the sample folder appears on the desktop. Double-click the shortcut icon to use the sample movie files stored in this folder.

To play movie files on your CLIÉ™ handheld, you need to convert them to a file format compatible with your CLIÉ™ handheld using the Image Converter software.

Movie files are stored on the Memory Stick™ media. You cannot store them on your CLIÉ™ handheld.

Transferring TV programs recorded on a computer
You can convert and transfer TV programs recorded and stored on a Sony VAIO
® computer to your CLIÉ™ handheld using
Giga Pocket Plugin software.

Insert a Memory Stick™ media into your CLIÉ™ handheld beforehand.

This function is available in the supported areas only.

You must install the Giga Pocket Plugin software on your computer before using this function.

Connect your CLIÉ™ handheld to your computer using the USB cable.

Tap Applications tab, and tap the Data Import application icon from the Applications screen.

On your computer, click Start, select Programs (All Programs in Windows® XP), Giga Pocket, Plugin, and then click Convert to CLIE.
The Giga Pocket Plugin software starts and Giga Pocket --> Convert to CLIE screen appears.

On your computer, click Start, select Programs (All Programs in Windows® XP), Giga Pocket, and then click Video Explorer.
Video Explorer appears.

On the Giga Pocket --> Convert to CLIE screen, select the arrow next to Output format and select QuickTime file format *.
* The created movie files are adapted for the Mobile Movie products.
If you want to change the movie file setting such as image quality, click Settings and make changes as necessary.

Drag and drop a movie file from Video Explorer to the Giga Pocket Plugin screen.
Conversion of the movie file starts.

Select movie files that you want to play on your CLIÉ™ handheld and click OK.

Click the arrow next to Saving Drive and select the Memory Stick drive, then click OK.
The selected movie file is transferred to a Memory Stick™ media.
