Editing Date Book events
Modifying an event
You can modify the existing event and appointment.

On the Date Book screen, tap the event you want to edit.

After you finished editing, tap OK.
Scheduling recurring or continuous events
The Repeat function lets you schedule events at regular intervals or extend over consecutive days.
Examples of recurring or continuous events
•  Birthday: an event that recurs annually
•  Weekly guitar lesson: an event that falls on the same day of the week and the same time of day
•  Business trip or vacation: a continuous event

On Date Book, tap the event where you want to recur.
The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Repeat box.
The Change Repeat dialog box is displayed.

Tap Day, Week, Month, or Year to set how frequently the event repeats.
For a continuous event, tap Day.

Enter the desired number on Every line to indicate a recurring event.
•  When you tap Week: Tap a letter representing each day of the week on the Repeat on line to specify the day you want the event to repeat.
•  When you tap Month: On the Repeat by line, tap Day to repeat the event on the specified day of the same week each month, or tap Date to repeat the event on the specified date each month.

To specify an end date for the recurring or continuous event, tap the arrow to the right of End on to display the drop-down list and tap Choose Date.
The Ending On dialog box is displayed.

Tap the end date on the dialog box.
The Change Repeat dialog box is displayed again.

Tap OK.
The Event Details dialog box is displayed again.

Tap OK.
The Date Book screen is displayed again.
Make sure that the recurrence icon is displayed to the right of the event line.
Notes
•  If you change the start date of a recurring event, your CLIÉ™ handheld calculates the number of days you moved the event. Your CLIÉ™ handheld then automatically changes the end date to maintain the duration of the repeating event.
•  If you change other recurring settings (e.g., time, alarm, private) of a recurring event and apply the changes to all the associated event that recur, your CLIÉ™ handheld changes all the associated events.
•  If you apply a change to the specific item of a repeating event (e.g., time), that event no longer shows the recurrence icon.
Changing the scheduled the date and time

On Date Book, tap the event to change the date and time
The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Time box.
The Set Time dialog box is displayed.

Tap the start time from the list to the right of the screen.
Tip
If the event is held all day long, tap All Day. The time from the start time to end time in the Set Time dialog box is specified.

Tap the End Time box and tap the time from the list to the right of the screen.

Tap OK.

Tap Date.

Specify the day, month and year.

Changing a timed event to an untimed event

On the Date Book screen, tap the event you want to edit.
The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Time box.
The Set Time dialog box is displayed.

Tap No Time.

Setting an event as private
You can hide the event that you set as private. If you define the password for your CLIÉ™ handheld, you must enter it to display the private event.

On the Date Book screen, tap the event you want to mark as private.

The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Private check box.
The message is displayed.

Tap OK.

Tap OK.
The event is set as private. For hiding or masking private events, see “Protecting data” in the Handbook provided with your CLIÉ™ handheld.
Changing the event's color

On Date book, tap the event whose color you want to change.
The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Color box to select the color.

Tap OK.
The event's color is changed.
Setting an alarm for an event
The Alarm setting enables you to set an audible alarm for events in your Date Book. The default Alarm setting is 5 minutes before the time of the event, but you can change the minute, hour, and day.
When you set an alarm, an alarm icon appears to the far right of the event with the alarm.
Tip
You can also set your CLIÉ™ handheld to flash its LED for an event instead of, or in addition to, an audible alarm. For details, see “Turning the Alarm LED on or off” in the Handbook provided with your CLIÉ™ handheld.

On the Date Book screen, tap the event to which you want to assign an alarm.
The Event Details dialog box is displayed.

Tap the Alarm check box.
The alarm is set.

Tap the arrow to select the time from Minutes, Hours, or Days.

Tap “5” to the right of the Alarm check box and enter the value from 1 to 99.

Tap OK.
Setting an alarm for an untimed event
You can set a silent alarm for an untimed event. If this is the case, the alarm triggers the reminder message on the screen at the specified period of minutes, hours, or days before midnight (beginning) of the day of the untimed event. No audible alarm sounds for an untimed event.

Example: When you set an alarm for an untimed event that occurs on February 4 and if the alarm is set for 5 minutes, the reminder message appears at 11:55 PM on the night of February 3. The reminder remains on the screen until you turn on your handheld and tap OK.
Note
The reminder message may not be displayed while another screen is being displayed.
