NetFront v3.0 for CLIE is a high-end browser for information appliances, which is incorporated in various devices, from a tiny screen on mobile phone to a large screen on car navigation system. With NetFront, you can utilize the full features of CLIÉ handheld the personal entertainment organizer to browse Webpages.

Before You Use

This operation guide (document) explains how to browse Webpages on CLIÉ handheld using NetFront.
Refer to the instruction manual contained in the CLIÉ handheld package for details of how to set up and operate CLIÉ handheld and how to use a storage media, such as "Memory Stick".

Warning

NetFront v3.0 for CLIE is a CLIÉ handheld accessory and only supports Palm OS 5.0 or later versions.

Terminology

Browse

Open an Internet Webpage.

Cache

Temporary work area on the memory used by NetFront to store page content.

Dialog

Message displayed by NetFront to prompt, indicate error or warnings.

Tap

Briefly touch the tip of the stylus on the CLIÉ handheld screen

Drag

Touch and move the tip of the stylus on the CLIÉ handheld screen. It switches between "Tap and Scroll" and "Select Area" modes, with tapping the [Change Tap Modes] icon (

)at the bottom right of the browsing screen.

Tap and Hold

Tap the screen for a little while without dragging.

Tap and Scroll

Drag on the screen to scroll a page. It is available only in the "Tap and Scroll" mode (

) (see "Drag" above for the mode). In another mode, that is "Select Area" (

), dragging doesn't scroll a page.

Pull-down menu

Folded menu with a

icon. Tapping the

icon expands the menu.

Check box

Small square shown on pages such as "NetFront Settings" that can be checked. Tap and check it ("ON"

) to select an item. Tap again to clear the check mark ("OFF") to cancel the selection.

Scroll buttons

Two buttons vertically aligned on CLIÉ handheld. They are used to scroll a page up and down.

Jog Dial

Dial located on the left-hand side of CLIÉ handheld. Dial it to scroll the browsing screen by line. Pushing and dialing it scrolls the browsing screen by page.

[Back] button

Button located below the Jog Dial. It is used to cancel an operation. Pressing this button while displaying a Webpage returns to the previous screen or "HOME Screen" of CLIÉ handheld depending on the setting.

[Menu] icon

Icon on CLIÉ handheld. Tapping this icon displays a menu bar on the browsing screen.

[Home] icon

Icon on CLIÉ handheld. Tap this icon to switch to "HOME Screen" of CLIÉ handheld.

Warning
