Setting basic camera preferences
This section describes basic preference settings for CLIE Camera S.
Follow the steps described below before taking a picture to select image size and saving media as necessary.
Settings remain in effect until you change them.

Rotate the Jog Dial navigator on the CLIE Launcher screen to select CLIE Camera S, and press the Jog Dial navigator. Or, tap the CLIE Camera S icon on the CLIE Launcher screen.
The CLIE Camera S application starts.
Tip
You can also start the CLIE Camera S application by pressing the CAPTURE button on your CLIÉ handheld by the default setting. To assign another application to start from this button, see “CLIE Camera S menu items.”

Tap (Camera Setup).
The Camera Setup screen appears.

Rotate the Jog Dial navigator to select an item you want to change, and press the Jog Dial navigator.
Or, tap the item you want to change.
A drop-down list of setting options appears.

Rotate the Jog Dial navigator to select a desired option, and press the Jog Dial navigator.
Or, tap the option you want to apply.
To make settings for other items, press the BACK button or tap on the item you want to change.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 to change the camera setup as necessary.
The default settings are indicated with asterisks (*). Currently selected settings are marked with yellow indicator.
Scene: Select from [Normal*]/[Twilight]/[Twilight Portrait].
- Twilight: Records image captured in twilight without flash. You cannot select flash mode manually when this setting is active.
- Twilight Portrait: Always records image in twilight (with human) with flash. You cannot select flash mode manually when this setting is active.
Note
Scene setting returns to the default setting when you quit the application. To save this setting, select Scene on the Save Setting screen.
Size, Quality: Select from following image sizes. You can also tap on the main screen to switch through the three settings.
The three settings for the size and quality can be changed as necessary.
See “Changing the settings for size and quality” for details.
The default setting is as shown below.

1: 1600 x 1200/Standard

2: 640 x 480/Standard

3: 320 x 240/Standard
Save to: Specifies where to store the captured image.
- Priority MS: Records the image on the “Memory Stick” media. If it is not inserted in your CLIÉ handheld, the data will be recorded to your CLIÉ handheld.
- MS: Records the data on the “Memory Stick” media.
- Internal: Records the data on your CLIÉ handheld.
Self Timer: Records the image 10 seconds after pressing the CAPTURE button. This setting is active for one time only.
- On: Select to use timer function.
- Off*: Timer function is inactive.
Red Eye Reduction: Reduces the red-eye effect by lighting the flash prior to recording.
- On: Select to reduce the red-eye effect.
- Off*: Red-eye reduction function is inactive.
Note
The level of red-eye reduction varies for each individual.

Tap OK.

To make advanced settings such as white balance, flash, and focus adjustments, or to apply effect preference to the capturing image, refer to “Setting advanced camera preferences”.
